Sunlight travels 93 million miles through space to reach Earth.

Starlight travels for millions of light years from distant galaxies before arriving on Earth giving us a view back in time.

Light has a spectrum ranging from ultraviolet to infrared with the visible spectrum in the centre.

Light in Art acts as colour field and as a form of visible energy and radiation.

It can represent emotional states create environments and define forms and objects.

It can signal in analogue and digital form. It is both particle and wave simultaneously.

Light makes the world visible to us. The Discovery of Fire was also the Discovery of Light and Heat.

We can generate Light in a multitude of ways from striking a match to switching on a room light to mixing chemicals together.

We are surrounded by sources both natural and artificial yet it remains a totally enigmatic and mysterious ‘element’ omnipresent yet elusive.

One of the Constants of the Universe its speed of transit is a defining limit of Physics, Mathematics and Art.
